Humming, he brushed his fingers over the back of her hand lightly, not sure what else he could say or do at the moment. He'd already assured her that Sarah would be along shortly, the thought he had about offering to get her an aspirin was out of the question, and telling her gently to eat her breakfast seemed foolish and a bit cold, given how pained she looked. And so, at something of a loss for the first time in as long as he could remember, he just held onto her hand, watching her silently, his face schooled into some semblance of calm if only for her sake.
