It wasn't easy to let go of her, only partly because of the bond there and the desire to hold her close. There was a physical awkwardness, too, in making the transfer to another's arms that Lydia wasn't used to, yet, and she was so very careful, supporting her head, as she shifted a little to place the baby in Samuel's arms.
