Samuel took the baby from her carefully, making sure to keep her head supported -- for as little as he knew about pregnancy, he at least understood babies, this not the first child born to the carnival nor the first he'd held -- and cradled her against his chest carefully. And while he'd said it before, he couldn't help but repeat himself, "She's beautiful."
